Adventure in the terrain Nepal

February 05, 2015

It was all sudden, when my pal…who is now a Medical Doctor, Bishesh had came for his vacation from Bangladesh. We had the plan just to go Hetauda, (a small city connecting Kathmandu and the East of Nepal). Recently, a by-pass road without black pitch had just been opened for public use. So, Mr. Bishesh came up with the idea to travel to that town on bike….there began our adventurous endeavor.

Thanks to my parents, they did allow me to travel that way which they never gave me the liberty  to travel like that….and even my Dad lent me his Suzuki Feiro 180 CC…how particular we are for bikes, Guys thing aint it.

It was gloomy morning of September. We set off on my Fiero to Hetauda. As we travelled, we approached Chobhar then Taudaha- a lake, which was not a particularly a tourist destination… After crossing the lake then our eyes were filled with the gigantic green mountains ahead, I could even count the trees while driving… I mean the mountain was that close. Roads, were fine till we reached Dakshinkali, a holy Hindu shrine of Goddess Durga, that lies at the southern part of Lalitpur. But as soon as we crossed the Dakshinkali area, then road began to be conjusted, the turnings were almost 180 degree, the water falls directly hit the road, pebbles of rock falling off the mountain. Then we came to one point where there was no human civilization, ony deep dense forest.

Soon after we crossed the forest, there were to be seen army men…. Kulekhani, Nepal’s historical hydropower project and damn, the sight was appealing, but we had to move from there quick since the hills cover up with clouds and start drizzling. The climbing up of the mountain was then over, now the roads started to go down the hill. There was one historical point called Gadhi which used to be southern border of Newar civilization. It is a fort, which PN Shah (so-called unifier of Modern Nepal) used to conquer victory over the prosperous Kathmandu valley. Inside the Gadhi, there lays Bhairav… and the Pundit even claimed that this place is so holy that even female dog wouldn’t enter the warrior arsenal. The fort still has cannon and cannon-balls, we tried to move the ball but couldn’t move them an inch.
After a rest at Gadhi, we set towards the destination, we just had raw noodles… Wai Wai..(P.S.:in Nepal you can have noodles uncooked…hahaha) and was hungry enough. The road turned to be more riskier since it was down ward sloping curves the local vans drove like crazy…. And the roads are dust filled and cant see anything ahead once a big bus or truck passes by… was one hell of a ride.. you had to rely only on intuitions…. But the scenery was so serene the mountains ahhh… we came to a fall washed the bike and drank the most beautiful and tasty mineral water which Kinley or Aquafina also cant provide. The purest water falling from the rock…

Hetauda, we reached by 12, then took a rest, went by few places the local market, bus park and Martyars Memorial Park. The small city didn’t have much to offer or we both didn’t know well. My Dad suggested me to travel Sauraha the next day…. And so as his blessing we did go Chitwan National Park. We started from Hetauda at 7 and reached there by 11. Called a tour operater, gave a good deal 1000 per head per day stay over night at cottage. Chitwan National Park, famous for elephants tiger and wild animals. Okay okay only elephants, however it reminds me of Goa full of tourist shops and flea market.

We had late night local cultural celebration at night, they filled me with local alcohol, I passed out thanks Bishesh took the responsibity to drive till hotel and the next day we took the main East-West Highway to Kathmandu.. I know we both had an argument and we do laugh out loud recalling all those.
Readers, drive safe, hills are very risky to bike, the turnings are really nerve wrecking and unpredicatable, so if U happen to be at Nepal, Chitwan National Park is definitely gonna be the tour package list since all the other are only for extreme tourists..and the most feasible Sanctuary place to reach, but if you reach there at night,  U just want to rush back from that area. Still, if you still are a badass the guides there can provide a campfire between the sanctuary and the next morning you may wake up with Bears hugging you.. and wolf licking your face….
